The first physical step that ceremoniously initiated the Dam removal process happened on April 7, 2006 when the four operating turbines and generators were switched off.

The 3.2 megawatt hydroelectric power generating plant was in operation for 98 years, two months and 29 days. At the time of shutdown the power plant was generating 2.1 megawatts.
